The launch of the “History and Heritage of The Kudan,” a book about the architectural gem that is the 85-year-old mansion, one of the last two grand houses in the heart of Tokyo city that have survived the world war. Since 1944, The Kudan has been the official residence of the Philippine Ambassador to Japan.
The book chronicles the provenance, tales, and events that transpired in The Kudan throughout the years, highlighting the need for its historic, cultural and architectural preservation.

The rehabilitation of the century-old Paco Market was a P75-million ($1.67-million) historic preservation initiative that transformed a rundown market into a modern communal space that allows for local culture to thrive. It was part of the “Kapit Bisig Para Sa Ilog Pasig” project of the ABS-CBN Foundation.
The redevelopment incorporated green design, provided an activity center for education and cultural preservation, and engaged the Paco Market community in recycling, all with commercial viability in mind.
The cultural transformation of Paco Market won the Social Spaces category in the Kohler Bold Design Awards in 2017.
